Adventure Radio . Info

Welcome to the Adventure Radio web page.  This page is dedicated to defining a standard for amateur radio operators interested in having a rallying place on the air and support a signaling system to alert operators about emergency traffic.

BASICS

The official Adventure Radio frequency is 146.580 MHz and the mode is conventional FM.

Various standard CTCSS tones are used to indicate the type of traffic on the air.  The standard defines what tones are allocated to what particular functions.  The assigned tone list here is a start with more to come.

CTCSS TONE        TYPE OF TRAFFIC

67.0 Hz                 Emergency traffic.  Use this tone to indicate you have high priority or emergency traffic.

77.0 Hz                 SOTA or other field activations in progress.  This tone alerts operators that there are stations looking for contacts

100.0 Hz              Trail chat – used for casual conversations with in the wilderness.

More tones will be assigned in the future.

The Adventure Radio protocol can be implemented by simply programming your radio to encode and decode the specific CTCSS tone on the Adventure Radio frequency 146.580 MHz.

Adding Adventure Radio features to your repeater system or other remote monitoring radios can be done with the new Adventure Radio Controller hardware is currently in development.  More details will be available as that project becomes available.
